We strongly urge Secretary Kerry to listen to the bipartisan voices voting today in support of the Fortenberry-Eshoo resolution (H. Con. Res. 75). Secretary Kerry should heed the calls of a growing international coalition of genocide scholars, The European Parliament, Pope Francis, the previous Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, GenocideWatch, USCIRF, and others, who have declared the persecution of Christians to be genocide. Anyone who considers the facts, documented extensively in this report released last week, would agree: there is an ongoing genocide of Christians in the Middle East. The United States must act in defense of, and stand in solidarity with, those enduring such horrific suffering.
