The Church in America

America, your deepest identity and truest character as a nation is revealed in the position you take towards the human person. The ultimate test of your greatness in the way you treat every human being, but especially the weakest and most defenseless ones.”

Saint John Paul II

Catholicism in the United States has been growing and thriving for centuries. The Catholic Church is the largest non-government provider of healthcare, education, and charitable services for the poor in America, in addition to being an important cornerstone of community for people nationwide. Our bishops are constantly calling lay Catholics to be leaders in their respective professions and communities for the greater good of all. Archbishop Gomez of Los Angeles recently said that America “need[s] men and women like you and me who are committed to serving God and living their faith in every aspect of their lives. If we want to live in a society that promotes virtue and justice and human dignity – if we want leaders who reflect these values – then we need to become leaders and role models in our society.” TCA responds to our bishops’ call for an active citizenry that promotes and defends the Church and her teachings in our society.
